Australia is a crucial part of Fonterra's Trans-Tasman home market and through our legacy companies, we have existed in Australia for well over 50 years.
In recent times, Fonterra has acquired a number of trusted well-known Australian companies, including Bonlac Foods Ltd, Bonland Dairies and Murrumbidgee Dairy Products.
In 2006, Fonterra fully integrated these businesses into its business model, and in 2007 merged its Australian business (milk supply, manufacturing, ingredients, brands and foodservices), its New Zealand Brands business and Tip Top, its New Zealand ice cream business, into one strategic Trans-Tasman business unit.
With revenues of A$4 billion, Fonterra's Australia-New Zealand business unit is the largest consumer foods business in Australasia, and it provides Fonterra with an assured supply of fresh milk, a network of 16 manufacturing sites, and marketing and brand synergies, offering a unique competitive advantage in the Trans Tasman market.
Fonterra's Australia-New Zealand operations are an absolute cornerstone of our business, and a key part of our growth plans.
In Australia alone, we employ 2,000 people, collect 21 per cent of Australia's milk and operate 10 manufacturing sites.

Supplying Fonterra in Australia
Each year, Fonterra collects around two billion litres of milk from around 1400 dairy farmers in Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales. In order to meet the global demand for dairy, Fonterra is committed to securing the right levels of milk supply to meet our consumer and customer demands.
Fonterra's commitment to its farmer suppliers includes processing their milk as efficiently as possible. Our goal is to ensure that our farmers, like us, are positioned to grow robust, sustainable dairy businesses in Australia.
Fonterra's Milk Supply Group in Australia comprises our regional Milk Supply Officers (MSOs) and the central Supplier Administration Centre.
Collectively, they are the front line in supplier services, providing the information, expertise and support farmers need to manage and grow their businesses profitability.
Fonterra's Australian Milk Supply Group works closely with Bonlac Supply Company and our Australian suppliers to assist wherever and whenever we can.

Ingredients
Fonterra is the leading domestic dairy ingredients supplier and marketer in Australia, handling close to 50 per cent of Australia's domestic dairy ingredients business. We supply ingredients to the bakery, confectionary/chocolate, health and nutrition, and processed food sectors.
Fonterra works to meet its customers' needs for specialised solutions, including ingredients and products that enhance or protect consumers' health, for example: probiotics and the sports nutrition market.

Foodservices
Fonterra's Foodservices business is working hard behind the scenes to deliver great food for people to eat outside their homes.
Based in Melbourne, we have a dedicated global sales channel across 70 countries to meet the specialised demands of customers including quick service restaurants, fast food outlets, cafes, restaurants, hotels, bakeries and caterers.
We provide Australian foodservice operators, including McDonalds, Dominos, Yum! (KFC and Pizza Hut), Oporto, Subway, Red Rooster, Muffin Break, Bakers Delight and Bidvest with branded dairy products, as well as core ingredients and ready-to-use products.
Fonterra is the only Australian dairy company that is able to provide every dairy segment to commercial kitchens, including ready-to-use dairy products, ready-to-serve creams, ready-to-serve beverages, butter, yoghurt, milk, cheese, ice cream, desserts and pre-proofed frozen pastry.
